Mark Kozel
Certified SOAR Facilitators

Mark Kozel is a Partner/Principal managing director of The Parkland Group and chairs the investment banking, bankruptcy and liquidation practice area. Since joining the firm in 1994, he led the workout negotiations for a $120-million retail company in bankruptcy, negotiating settlements with more than 700 creditors. In addition, he regularly negotiates settlements with landlords and other creditors and often administers the preference claim collection process for his clients. His successful troubled-company investment banking expertise provides a significantly higher potential return to creditors than might usually be the case. Mark’s liquidation experience, coupled with his familiarity with applicable laws, has enhanced the recoveries for creditors. He has also acted as a court-appointed Receiver.

Actively involved in making things happen for most of his career, Mark previously held various marketing management positions with an international distributor of replacement parts to the automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance market and retail hardware market. Over a period of nearly 2 decades, he managed their international marketing, incentive program and communication functions.

As managing director of a $2-million marketing services subsidiary of a national automobile rental firm, Mark led the effort to reduce operating costs while significantly improving the subsidiary's effectiveness and increasing value-added services. He also directed public and investor relations for the parent organization and served as its public spokesperson.

Mark has been involved in successful turnaround engagements in a variety of industries including construction, health clubs, software, electronics and manufacturing. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Turnaround Management Association and an officer of the Ohio TMA chapter. He is also a co-inventor of SOAR to Strategic Excellence™ and a Certified SOAR Facilitator.
